This is the great missionary mandate that Christ gave the whole Church, and today, two thousand years later, it remains as urgent as ever. This mandate is also the motto of World Youth Day 2013 and the shared vision of the World Apostolate of Fatima as Pope Francis and the Synod of Bishops encourage the continued missionary outreach to make Christ known throughout the world.
At the Holy Father’s personal request, Cardinal Jose Polycarp, the Patriarch of Lisbon, recently consecrated the pontificate of Pope Francis and World Youth Day 2013 to Our Lady of Fatima on her feast day, May 13, 2013.
As the Vatican’s official voice for the messages delivered by Our Lady to three shepherd children in the Portuguese village of Fatima in 1917, the World Apostolate of Fatima promotes Our Lady’s urgent requests to pray and make reparation for sinners to end conflict in the world and bring souls to Christ.
